Your Superfest pass includes entry for the film festival and the Exploratorium. When you arrive at the festival, we will provide you with your access to the museum as well.

Access for Saturday Screenings

  • All of the films will be available with closed audio descriptions. This year, Superfest is partnering with the Exploratorium to offer wireless headsets with earbuds to play the audio descriptions. You can also bring your own headset if you prefer.

  • All of the films will play with open captioning.

  • Certified Deaf Interpreters will be present for all live dialogue but will not interpret during the films.

  • Wheelchair seating for you and wheelchair user / non-wheelchair user companions. The Exploratorium is a wheelchair accessible venue.

  • While the venue’s closest bathrooms are gendered, there are all gender bathrooms on the second floor directly above the theater. They do not have automatic door openers, so guests needing support should ask for assistance at the Superfest check-in table. Additional all gender bathrooms are available at Moore Gallery 4.

  • Some spaces are available for those who prefer to bring their own seating.

  • The Exploratorium offers a hearing loop system that transmits sound directly to hearing aids with a t-coil. To use a hearing aid, you will need to sit within the looped area of the auditorium.

  • Some bench seating is available.

  • We require our venues to abstain from using scented products leading up to and during the festival. However, we know this may not be adequate for all guests and Exploratorium patrons may be wearing scents.

  • We have seating areas where social distancing will be possible.

  • The venue is 0.6 mile from Embarcadero BART/MUNI. There is also a F stop across the street from the venue at Green and Embarcadero. See here for other transportation details.

  • For other access needs and questions, please contact Emily Beitiks or Shaina Ghuraya at pklinst@sfsu.edu.

Covid Protocols

All guests to wear masks in the auditorium. This is a large venue with an updated HVAC system, and we will provide options for more spacious seating for those who decide to attend but need a little more room.

The Exploratorium does not require masks for their patrons, however, Superfest guests enter almost directly into a mask-required space. There is a wheelchair-accessible single stall restroom in the masked space.

Photography

Photos will be taken. To opt-out, please contact us at pklinst@sfsu.edu or tell a Superfest staff person, and we will ensure that your photographs will be blurred out in any future promotional materials.
