FESTIVAL OVERVIEW

Superfest is a multi-day film festival with in-person and virtual offerings. This year we are proud to host it at the San Francisco Disability Cultural Center — a space designed by our disabled community for our disabled community. Because of this venue, we are able to offer more screenings than ever before!

This page will give you an outline of our offerings with information on how to access each part of the festival. It’s organized by Virtual Events, In-Person Events, and Hybrid events. Additionally, please refer to our content notes and warnings before screening the films.

Price: It’s free! But please consider a donation, if you are able dcc.page/support.

Virtual Events & Access

Superfest is a worldwide festival, and this year all of the films will be available 24/7 on Vimeo from October 16th-19th. Additionally, we have several screenings and panels that are exclusively online, and we also offer a tech support session. We look forward to having you join us!

    You can watch the films at any point from 12:01 AM (pst) on Thursday October 16 until 11:59 PM (pst) on Sunday October 19!

    You will receive the password to unlock each of the films at 12:01 AM (pst) on October 16.

    On the digital Vimeo site you have the option to watch films with and without Audio Description. To watch with Audio Description:

    1. Open the video in the video player.

    2. Click on the gear wheel icon in the lower right corner of the player to view Settings.

    3. Select Audio to see all the audio options available, such as different languages.

    4. Select your desired audio track from the menu.

    5. The video will switch to this audio track. Click out of the menu to close it.

  • We offer tech support on Zoom for those guests who need help navigating Vimeo and our virtual festival.

  • Join us for a powerful Call to Action Screening with a panel. Please review the content notes and warnings for each of the films. Some include graphic content. We will give a content warning at the beginning of the program.

  • Get together with Superfest filmmakers and attendees for a virtual conversation with your community. What did you love? How did it feel to see our stories without the stereotypes or pity? What was your best laugh? What film went over your head? Learn from the filmmakers about their process and inspiration; chat with fellow attendees about their perspectives and interpretations. Let’s talk about it all! Bianca Laureano, our incredible Cafe Crip moderator, will facilitate the conversation.

  • Access information for Screenings:

    • Masks are required inside the Disability Cultural Center.

    • All of the films will be available with closed audio description. This year Superfest has headsets that will be given upon request when you enter.

    • All of the films will play with open captioning. Additionally, the panels will have ALS and captions.

    • The venue is wheelchair accessible and will have seating for you and your companions.

    • Some spaces available for those who must bring their own seating.

    • Two universal (gender-neutral and barrier-free) restrooms. One restroom has a large changing table that electronically changes heights.

    • Our venue abstains from using scented products leading up to and during the festival. Please come as scent free as possible.

    • Indoor and outdoor seating available.

    • Large sliding doors will be opened to provide ventilation.

Hybrid Events
